EUUUUUUROPE! (Or, "Despite All Odds")

Fri Jun 29, 2007, 6:32 PM
EDIT, PART DEUX:

Oh. My. God.
I swear, I cannot wait to get to Europe. That is, if I don't kill myself first.

First of all, for the past week or so, my family has been so... weird. My mom's clingy, my brother's a complete ass, and my grandmother... Well, let's just say she'd rather I lived in a lead-lined box than go anywhere.

Anyway, I've been pretty much driven crazy. But this morning takes the cake.

I wake up, come downstairs, and these are my mother's first words.

"You're not going."

Lead. My stomach is lead.

Damnable. London. Terrorists. :@

So after a day of complete upheaval, and much, much time spent convincing my mom that security would be more than usual and it would all be okay, it has been decided that I can, in fact, go. That said, I'll be gone for two weeks starting Saturday, June 30th. Love to all

...

*breathes*

EDIT:

Well, change of plans. Some things got turned around, and it turns out I won't be going to Prague. *tear*
However, I will be going to London, Paris, Munich, Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest.
Anyway, I think it's a fair trade. :excited:
I've always wanted to go to London. and Paris. I just really hope I can see Oscar Wilde's grave while I'm there. :3

---------
EUROPEEUROPEEUROPE!!!!!

Guess where I'm going? ;)

So yeah, I'm excited. I'm very, very excited. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

You see, I got a letter in the mail today. (I never get mail. Like, ever. ) And it was so Harry-Potter-esque, it was hilarious. (With the big envelope and the crazy script and... Yeah, I need to get out more.) But inside the envelope there was this official-looking letter with a spiffy golden seal and...

Me: Mom, I think the feds caught on to my massive downloading. >.>

But no! It was an invitation! To this kick-ass 'Global Young Leaders Conferance', which is basically days of conferances and art museums and operas and LUNCHES WITH QUEENS

IN VIENNA
AND BUDHAPEST
AND PRAGUE

<3

And apparently less than 1% of the population gets accepted every year, so yeah. Squee!!!!! ^_^

You're welcome ^_^ Always nice to meet a fellow velvet goldmine/Oscar Wilde/ androgyny fan - and ooh hope you had fun in Europe! :D Paris is gorgeous and London is fun. Don't know any of the other cities so I can't comment annnd I was invited to the Global Young Leader's conference too - when I read that bit in your journal it was like !!! Wow hahaa that's pretty cool. I didn't get to go though, my parents weren't convinced by the letter and it was kinda expensive (I live in Thailand normally so the travelling costs would have been pretty high)

Haha, yeah, I spazzed when I saw your interests. :XD: Velvet Goldmine was on TV that day, I think. I was oversensetized :p

Yeah, Paris and London were definately my favorite places to visit, probably the only places I'd go again, for extended visits. (although Budapest was beautiful as well.)

Whoa, Thailand?? o-o Awesome :3 My friend's mom grew up there ^^

Put this in your sig if you are among the 2% of all dA members who think those people are just attention whores.

I'm so glad you can go!!!

(Question: I'm going to England next year - is Wilde's grave in England? If so, where?)

Nope, it's in Paris- The Père Lachaise Cemetary. (I've done much homework XD)

Check this out, the link should should take you directly to the "Release and Death" subsection of the article. Look to the fifth paragraph. ->[link]

In England, though, you could probably visit his house in Chelsea -> [link]

Hope that helps ^^

*weeps* Oh damn.

Victor Hugo? Is he there? Hell. How many famous dead guys are actually in England that I might be able to see?

Thanks anyway! I'm sure I could've looked it up myself, but I only remembered that after the fact.
